Axis Bank’s Shikha Sharma Welcomes NPA Norms; Says to Apply Directions

Calling the government’s NPA ordinance a “great boost” Axis Bank CEO and MD Shikha Sharma said that she welcomes these changes which bankers had been waiting for since a long time. She also said that she will implement these measures by cutting layers and also plan to tie-up with another life insurance distribution.
Sharma, who was present at an event organized by industry lobby CII, said that the ordinance coupled with the RBI notifications creates a kind of “forced mechanism”. Sincewhat it’s doing is cutting the layers off from the resolution process, it helps force a decision when the majority agrees with something.
