Bank Unions Threaten Strike as Talk on Wage Fails

United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) which is the umbrella body of banks’ unions in India said that the unions may raise agitation because the center refuses to comply with their wage revision demands.

UFBU recently had a talk with the Indian Banks’ Association in which it placed the demand for an adequate wage increase. However, the wage hike that was offered was “meager and was totally rejected” general secretary of All India Bank Officer’s Confederation (AIBOC) D T Franco said.  He said that bank employees are already paid very low compared to government employees.
