The central government is planning to bring about 23 lakh Anganwadi volunteers under the EPFO umbrella, although the contribution of the employers will remain fixed at 10%. While the center will contribute 60% under the scheme, the states will bear 40% of the contribution.
Bandaru Dattatreya, labor minister, said that they are preparing a scheme in which helpers and Anganwadi workers can be brought under social security in which they and the government would contribute 10% of the honorarium they are getting now.
