Centre Struggles to Rope in Private Hospitals as Modicare Deadline Nears
The ambitious national healthcare scheme Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) is scheduled to be launched on August 15. However, the government is having a hard time convincing the private sector banks to become a part of the initiative.

According to sources, private hospitals are unhappy with the pricing of the AB-NHPM under which they are offered rates 30-45% lower than the standard rates.

A top executive from a major hospital chain said that there are several overheads involved in running a hospital which is why the rates announced by the center are unsatisfactory. He said that the private hospitals have asked for a revision of these rates.
