Changes in Passport Act Sought to Prevent Fraudsters from Fleeing India
In light of the massive damage caused to the Indian economy by infamous defaulters like Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, etc. an inter-ministerial panel has submitted recommendations to the Home Ministry that aims at strengthening the Passport law so that the defaulters can’t flee from the country easily.

The panel was directed by the Home Ministry to look into cases of Indian passport holders who can obtain dual citizenship, a vulnerability which was recently exploited by Mehul Choksi as he obtained the citizenship of Antigua.
