Chhattisgarh to Merge DCCBs into One Co-Op Bank

In a bid to provide the farmers with better banking facilities, the government of Chhattisgarh has decided to combine all the district cooperative central banks (DCCBs) into one big State Cooperative Bank. According to an official, a cabinet meeting held recently under the chairmanship of CM Raman Singh has already given a nod for the concept.

With the establishment of one state cooperative bank, all the DCCBs will continue functioning as they are now but will also offer their services to the new State Cooperative Bank. This is expected to be highly beneficial for the farmers and help the interest rates drop by a percent or two.
