Customs, IGST Revenue Doubles After GST

According to a senior government official, collections from IGST (Interstate GST) and customs duty have nearly doubled to Rs. 30,000 crore in July on a year-on-year basis. During the same month last year i.e. July, the total revenue from the indirect taxes stood at Rs. 16,000 crores.

The impact of CGST and SGST on the tax collections, however, is yet to be identified. This is because the information can only be obtained after the dealers and manufacturers have filed their returns.

So far, about 71 lakh tax payers have migrated to the new GSTN portal along with 13 lakh new tax payers.
