Cyber Risk Insurance Demand Shot up by 40% in 2018 in India

A new report by Data Security Council of India (DSCI) says that cyber insurance market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 27% to 22.8 billion USD in 2024 compared to 4.2 billion USD in 2017. Council CEO Rama Vedashree said that cyber insurance has become a key tool in an enterprise’s risk management system in light of the financial liabilities that arise out of data breaches and cyber risk.

Compared to other nations, the demand for cyber risk insurance is low. However, it’s growing rapidly now. Between 2017 and 2018, it recorded year-over-year growth of 40% around the time when ransomware attacks had become prominent across the globe.
