Devyani International extends partnership with Costa Coffee
Devyani International Ltd (DIL), the biggest franchisee of Yum Brands in India, has formalized an extension of its organization with the UK-based bistro chain Costa Coffee. DIL went into a revised development agreement for its existing Costa Coffee business on August 14, 2021, following which DIL has been granted development rights across India in a phased way.

This understanding has initially granted DIL improvement rights for a time of five years and extendable occasionally subject to meeting of development and contractual obligations, an organization representative said in The Economic Times report.

While Coca-Cola procured Costa Coffee internationally three years back, in India, Costa Coffee has been worked by rival PepsiCo’s selective and biggest bottling partners RJ Corp-claimed DIL since 2005. India is among the couple of business sectors where Costa Coffee is aligned directly with a PepsiCo bottling partner.

However, the ET report referred to, in India, Costa Coffee remains a small company, unlike scale players like Starbucks and Cafe Coffee Day. The number of Costa Coffee stores in India additionally reduced from around 70 in 2018 to 44 as of June this year.
