E-commerce policy may have incentives for small stores

India may incentivize Kirana stores which became a part of the e-commerce environment during this pandemic by converting their operations to both online and offline sales.

The special package for the small stores is likely to be a part of the economic policy introduced by the commerce and industry ministry.

Officials said, “We will help the Kiranas who are willing to integrate their operations on the e-commerce platforms so that the switchover could be swift. The incentives could be in the form of loans or one time grant”.

Several technology companies will the Kiranas to integrate with e-commerce platforms. Trade bodies have also launched various initiatives to train small store owners to get the necessary skills to handle the online sales.
