E-retailers betting on offline expansion

E-tailers are betting large on increasing their physical presence in spite of the disruption in offline retail, following the covid-led lockdown and past, to cater to the demand from smaller cities, and as enjoy centres to similarly enlarge their reach using the omni-channel model.

Beauty store Nykaa has opened three shops in recent weeks and looks to open 10-15 more relying on how the market evolves.

Founder and CEO Falguni Nayar stated offline play is important, specifically for luxury and premium classes, as customers want to revel in the product before buying. The startup retails top rate beauty merchandise through its offline stores. Furniture e-tailer Pepperfry currently has over 60 studios across 20 towns and plans to make bigger to Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets via its franchise-owned and franchise-operated version.
