Even as GST Rollout Date Nears 7 States Yet to Clear SGST Laws

Even though there is less than one month remaining for the GST rollout, seven states are yet to pass the bill. West Bengal, J and K, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Meghalaya are still to pass the SGST law although 24 states and union territories have already passed in their respective legislative assemblies.
The Goods and Services Tax is set to be implemented on July 1. However, West Bengal wants the center to postpone the same by a month, and in fact, brought it up during the GST Council meeting a few days back.
