Expect WhatsApp-Based Payments Soon: Axis Bank

Private sector Axis Bank said that its customers will soon be able to transfer funds over popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp via the United Payment Interface (UPI) channel.
Rajiv Anand, the executive director of Axis Bank, said that they are the market leaders in the field of innovation, and that UPI is a “huge opportunity”. He also said that the bank is also in talks with other top players such as Samsung, Ola, Uber, and Google to create an ecosystem for the people to make payments.
As of today, Axis Bank has 20% market share in the UPI space.
