Farm Loan Waivers to Reach $40 bn by 2019 General Elections

As the 2019 general elections are nearing, the government has already started taking proactive steps to woo the voters. According to the analysts at the Bank of America Merill Lynch (BofAML), farm loan waivers which the government is backing with full commitment to assuage the rural populace will rise to a whopping $40 billion by 2019 elections.

Just recently, the union government had increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the farmers by 50%, and the Karnataka government had announced farm loan waiver which will cost the exchequer as much as $5 billion.
