November 17, 2018
According to a report by the Indian Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), India’s renewable energy sector is to become a top target for investors across the globe. Although it received only around $6.84 billion worth of foreign direct investments (FDIs) from 2000 to 2018, it’s going to observe a huge jump in the investments now which will hit the $80 billion mark in the next 4 years, the report said. This projection is based on the inputs from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
India is actively promoting renewable energy and has a number of ambitious projects in the pipeline already. During 2017-18, it added a whopping 11,788 MW of renewable power. This year, it looks to add another 8,500MW of renewable power.
