FM Arun Jaitley Resolute, Confirms Centre’s Won’t Declare Farm Loan Waivers

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has confirmed that in a bid to meet the fiscal deficit target of 3.2% GDP for the current fiscal, the Centre won’t let up at any cost. He also made it clear that there will not be any farm loan waivers. Previously, he had announced that the states mulling over the loan waivers should arrange the funds themselves and not seek centre’s aid.

The statements from the finance ministry are coming at a time when the Indian economy is becoming weaker. Not only private investments have dropped considerably, but the government may also have to spend as much as Rs. 21,980 crore if it announces employee allowance revision post July, 2017.
