For GDP to Grow 8%, Manufacturing must Grow 12%-14%: NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog member V K Saraswat said that the manufacturing sector of the country must grow by 12% to 14% for the GDP to hit the 8% mark.

Saraswant said that since we expect the GDP to grow to about $2.7 trillion to $3 trillion by 2022, it means the contribution of the manufacturing industry should be about 25%. This is why Niti Aayog is aiming at creating about 100 million jobs in that enterprise.

He also said that India needs to put in more GDP in the Research and Development, as at only 0.9 input, we are far behind in comparison to other nations.
