Generation of B2B Invoices on Govt Portal Necessary from September for Curbing GST Evasion

According to government officials, invoices for business-to-business sales have to be generated on a centralized government portal from September to check GST evasion. They said that an officers’ committee has been set up to monitor the implementation of the e-invoice project under the supervision of the revenue secretary.
The officials said that the new measure will help check Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion through fake invoices and also make it easier for the businesses to file taxes as the invoice data will already be obtained by a centralized portal.
