Government to Subsidize Hybrid Cars, Says Report
According to a news report, the Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) has asked the government to provide a corpus worth ₹13 crores to subsidize electric cars in the country. This comes as a surprise as previously the Centre had maintained that it wouldn’t subsidize electric cars.

The report said that when a meeting was held for the second phase of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid vehicles (FAME) on August 23, DHI asked for incentives for the buyers of 10,000 hybrid vehicles. It was reportedly buttonholed by automobile giants like Honda, Toyota, and Maruti Suzuki.
