Govt General Insurers May Get Preference in National Health Insurance Scheme

Citing experience handling large volumes of health insurance in both urban and rural areas in the country, some state-run insurance unions have asked the government to give first preference to public sector non-life insurers in the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
A senior official who is aware of the developments of the scheme said that the states adopting an insurance model can take a call on the matter.
There are 4 main public sector general insurers which are United India Insurance, New India Assurance Company, Oriental Insurance, and National Insurance.
