Govt to Install 300 mn Smart Meters in 3 Years to Revive Discoms

According to sources, the government is looking to give a shot in the arm of the power sector by installing smart meters in all the homes and business establishments across the country. They said that the plan will require the 300 million smart meters over the next 3 years and that the power ministry is already in talks with the manufacturers that can supply the meters.
Smart meters are advanced electricity meters that can provide monitoring tools for power consumption and improve efficiency as well.
