Govt to Spend ₹8,000 cr in J&K to Boost Income of Traders, Farmers

The government is looking to invest as much as ₹8,000 crores in Jammu & Kashmir to help farmers and traders in the state to improve their lives and businesses. Officials said that ₹2,000 crores will be used for procuring apples directly from growers.
Around 60% of apples produced in J&K will be procured by State-run National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed).
According to government records, Kashmir makes for the production of 70% apples, 90% walnuts, and 91% walnuts in the country.
