GST Bill Approved in J&K, to Be Passed After Assembly Session

The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet has approved the Goods and Services Tax bill on June 7, 2017, and has called a special assembly meeting from June 17 to enact the law in the state.

The J&K government has made a few modifications in the original GST bill because it can’t be applied to the state in the original form. However, the revised version won’t compromise the special status of the state under Article 370 of the constitution and allow the industry to reap the benefits the bill has to provide at the same time, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu said.
