GST Bill: Manipur Gives Green Signal

Manipur Assembly passed the Goods and Services Tax Bill today in a special session. Although the opposition Congress demanded a debate, the bill was passed by voice vote.

While Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that GST will help Manipur generate an annual revenue of about Rs. 150 crore to Rs. 200 crore, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh said that the bill clearance will provide a “golden jump” for the mobilization of revenue through tax simplification.

Singh also said that the people should not panic about GST as it won’t increase the prices of goods and services.
