GST Historical, but Tax Rate a Hindrance for Ayurveda: Baba Ramdev

Chiding the high tax rate under GST, Baba Ramdev said that while he thinks GST is a positive move by the government, it is also going to act as a hindrance for the revival of Ayurveda in the country as the rate has been changed to 12% from the current 5%. He also said that government should impose a higher tax on luxury items and alcohol instead of Ayurveda.

Pointing to the higher tax on cow ghee, Ramdev said that it might give an impetus to cow slaughter, although he added that the government’s intentions are noble and it’s not really against the cows.
