GST Suvidha Providers in a Fix as API Rollout Delays

With Goods and Services Tax poised for rollout on July 1, the delay in releasing APIs for Goods and Services Network has left the GST Suvidha Providers (GSPs) anxious. Without these Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) they are forced to test and prepare the systems as it is.

GSTN is a private company appointed by the government to build and maintain the IT backbone of the GST regime. There are 34 GSPs under the company which will provide custom solutions to their clients and offer assistance when required. Traders and services providers liable for GST can file returns directly through GSTN websites or with the help of GSPs.

Although GSTN’s failure to meet APIs rollout timelines has made many GSPs helpless, some have claimed they can operate the systems without the APIs through workarounds.
