GSTN Riddled with All kinds of Issues; Could end up in a Mess

Although the rollout date for the Goods and Services Tax regime is nearing, its troubles seem to be only increasing. The backbone of the entire regime i.e. Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) on which the businesses will share invoices and file returns is already showing signs of weaknesses as several taxable people who tried to register their business on the same failed. It doesn’t help that the compliance standards are way too complex and stringent for an average businessman. For instance, invoices uploaded on GSTN must follow a fixed format for an invoice number that contains numbers, alphabets, special characters viz. “-” and “/” unique for a financial year. If there is a single error in the format, the system won’t accept the invoice.
