High Penetration of EVs in India Expected by 2030, Says Niti Aayog

A new Niti Aayog report said that with schemes like FAME II and other key reforms, India may achieve high penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) by as soon as 2030. It said that the penetration of EVs can rise as high as 80% for two-wheelers and as high as 30% for private four-wheelers.
The report “India’s Electric Mobility Transformation: Progress to Date and Future Opportunities” said that electric buses under FAME II scheme will make for 3.8 billion vehicle kilometers traveled (e-vkt) over their lifetime which will save 5.4 million tons of oil.
