ICICI Bank Integrates RuPay Credit Cards with UPI for Seamless Transactions
In a significant move, ICICI Bank, a leading private sector lender, has announced the integration of its range of RuPay credit cards with UPI transactions, effective from December 1, 2023. This integration empowers ICICI Bank’s RuPay credit cardholders to link their cards with their preferred UPI apps such as Google Pay and PhonePe, facilitating convenient and swift payments, as per the bank’s press release.

However, it’s important to note that this integration primarily supports Person to Merchant (P2M) payments. This implies that individuals can utilize their RuPay credit cards on UPI for various transactions like shopping, utility bill payments, and offline payments at point-of-sale machines. Unfortunately, the feature does not extend to person-to-person transfers among friends and family.

The press release further clarified that customers engaging in P2M transactions through RuPay credit cards on UPI will continue to accrue reward points for their expenditures. This strategic integration aims to enhance the overall user experience, offering a seamless and efficient payment solution for ICICI Bank’s RuPay credit cardholders.

According to the NPCI website, currently, RuPay credit card on UPI can be used on the following UPI apps: BHIM, BHIM PNB, CRED, CanaraA1, Gokiwi, Google Pay, PayZap, PhonePe, Slice, Mobikwik and Paytm app customers can link their RuPay Credit Card on UPI.
