India Looks to Generate 40% of Power from Renewable Resources by 2030

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is aiming to be capable of fulfilling 40% of its power requirement using non-fossil fuel-based resources by 2030. He said that the government is working on maximizing the use of solar and wind energy and is replacing coal which is a polluting and non-renewable source of energy.
Modi, who was speaking at the first assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) said that alliance can be the future OPEC for meeting energy requirements of the world. He said that in the future, solar power will play the same role that oil wells play today.
