India Most Frugal Economy of All, Says Jayant Sinha

India using its resources in a wise and frugal manner has made it extremely energy efficient, Union Minister Jayant Sinha said. That, combined with the benefit of demographic dividend has resulted in India quickly turning into a global entrepreneurial powerhouse and leader in innovation and technology, he added.

Sinha was speaking at the ‘Reinventing India’ lecture series organized by Pune International Centre (PIC) at MCCIA when he said that India’s GDP growth rate of 7% to 8% and an economy worth USD 9.5 trillion puts it ahead of other economies such as China or USA. He said that compared to China we are using 25% less cement and steel and 78% less carbon per unit.
