India to Build 20 World-Class Institutions

The government is aiming at developing 20 “Institutions of Eminence” as the human resource development ministry has already moved the proposal to the Union Cabinet for approval.
The following are some of the key highlights of these top-class educational institutions:
- These institutions will achieve a spot in the world’s top 500 institutions within 5 years and then move to the top 100 in the next five years.
- The teacher to student ratio will be 1:20 initially, which will be later improved to 1:10
- It’s proposed that for up to 30% of seats can be given to foreign students granted they have the merit to show.
