Indian railways to link its trains to ISRO’s satellite
October 16, 2019
There’s a huge difference now in the real-time information system linked with the ISRO satellite.
The ISRO has helped railways by giving a bandwidth for the locomotives to transmit data every 30 seconds. The system also works in remote areas where mobile connectivity is very ill or poor.
Also, the problem of the volume of railway traffic has increased so it was difficult for the controller to track the movements of trains manually. Now it will be much easier for her and will be able to focus on her own task.
This is also going to help in long term future planning by improving strategy of railway operations, better insights and data on railways all over the nation.
