₹ 2.21 Trillion Total Cost Overrun of 205 Delayed Railway Projects

According to the latest flash report of Statistics and Programme Implementation Ministry (MOSPI) for December 2018, the total cost overrun of 205 delayed railway projects is to the tune of ₹ 2.21 trillion. What’s more alarming is that Indian Railways alone accounts for more than half of all the central sector projects.
The report shows that the overall cost of the projects has increased by 131.83% now as it stood at ₹ 1,68,116.34 crores at the end of 2018, and now it’s hiked to ₹ 3,89,745.97 crores.
