Kerala Looks to Create 500,000 Jobs in 3 Years Through “Responsible Tourism”
As Kerala is recovering from the massive loss of ₹5 billion caused by the recent floods, the state government is banking on the tourism sector to recover from the impact. Kerala Tourism Secretary Rani George said that “responsible tourism” has the potential to generate 500,000 jobs for the people by 2021. She said that the industry supports 12,000 families directly, and as many as 50,000 beneficiaries indirectly.

Kerala has a dedicated tourism portal for job creation- www.tourismcarriers.in. Its tourism industry is strong and received 15 million tourists last year.
