Linking of Driving License with Aadhaar to Become Mandatory, Says Ravi Shankar Prasad
Minster for Law, Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government is looking to making linking of driving licenses with Aadhaar numbers mandatory.

Prasad was delivering his presidential address at the 106th Indian Science Congress at Lovely Professional University when he said that a new law will be introduced soon that will make Aadhaar-driving license linking mandatory to eliminate duplicate licenses.

He said that under the current system, a person who causes an accident runs away and gets a duplicate license to protect himself from legal action. However, once the new law is implemented, the system will detect if a driving license already exists in the database and won’t approve a new one, he said.
