Maruti Wants to Launch Electric Vehicle but Faces Two Challenges

A senior official in Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said that the company wants to launch its first electric vehicle in the country next year. However, it’s troubled by problems like the absence of charging infrastructure and the cost of EVs that hinders mass production.

Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Director of engineering C V Raman said that the company is also facing the problem of acceptability of EVs by the customers.

At present, MSI is testing a fleet of 50 electric vehicles that are based on the WagonR model.
