Modi Government Pushing Highway Construction at 30 km a Day

Observing a gradual growth in highway construction since the first two years of the Narendra Modi government, the ministry of road transport and highways has reached a higher rate since the past few months. While the highway construction rate stood at 22.3 km a day in the previous fiscal, today it has jumped to 30 km a day. Industry sources have also claimed that there is better monitoring of the construction projects now, and many projects that were initiated only for a few years have already reached construction phase now.

The construction rate observed in the first two months of the current fiscal i.e. 22.6 km/day is an improvement from 19.26 km/day that was recorded in the previous fiscal, although, it’s still far from the ministry’s target of 41 km/day.
