National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) network, which aims at seeking and sharing information about terrorists with security agencies will soon be receiving access to the tax and PAN records maintained by the Income Tax Department.

As per a recent order by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, NATGRID will be provided with “bulk information” that contains the name, gender, DOB, father’s name, PAN, etc. of all the taxpayers that signed up on the network.  The department will also share their contact information such as phone numbers, office, and residential addresses, etc.
