New guidelines announced for social media platforms

To bring transparency on online media, the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has delivered draft rules for “influencer advertising” on advanced media. ASCI noticed that influencer advertising has become standard. “Along these lines, quite a bit of what influencers post is limited time and a great deal of it isn’t distinguished all things considered. Such non-revelation is an insult to customers and is misdirecting.

As per the new rules, all content creators will have to disclose if a certain post, video or written content is an advertisement or not. Also, if there are products placement the same needs to be mentioned. The new guidelines are applicable to all social media platforms. All forms of content should be mentioned clearly so that the audience can understand that it’s sponsored content.

The new rules for influencer advertising on social media will be available for all stakeholders, including industry, social media influencers as well as customers for feedback.
