New IT-Filing System to be Unveiled Soon, Infosys Behind the ₹4,000 cr Project

The government has given a major push to the new income tax filing system that will make tax filing easier and reducing the processing time to 24 hours. Tech giant Infosys has been appointed to build the IT infrastructure for the project whose expenditure is pegged at ₹4,241 crores.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Union Cabinet has approved the funding under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the IT department’s Integrated E-filing and Centralized Processing Centre 2.0 Project. He said once the project is launched, ITR will be processed within a single day against the average duration of 63 days under the current system.
