New social media norms to be set by government of India

The government of India is going to set new social media norms that will make social media firms responsible for the content on their platforms.

Law ministry has made changes in amendments that are approved by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY). Once the guidelines are approved companies will have to ensure that harmful content on their platforms should be removed.

Government officials said, “Social media giants have to monitor the content on their platforms and remove unlawful content”.
