Nirmala Sitharaman Meets Homebuyers; Promises to Improve Demand, Liquidity

This Sunday, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with homebuyers and industries bodies to address their concerns regarding liquidity crunch, halted projects, and a slowdown in demand. She held two separate meetings- one with industry bodies NAREDCO and CREDAI, and another one with homebuyer associations.
NAREDCO and CREDAI said that there is “unrest” in the sector due to poor sales and liquidity crunch and that NBFCs and traditional lenders must be pushed to fund projects. In response to that, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the government will address these issues in the days to come.
