Niti Aayog Makes a Case for Revamping Indian Statistical System

Rajiv Kumar, Niti Aayog vice-chairman said that India’s statistical system needs to be revamped and modernized so that real-time data can be captured and used for policy analysis. He said that the think tank body is already is talking with the World Bank for the same.

Kumar’s opinions are coming at a time when the Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) has decided to consolidate National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) and Central Statistics Office (CSO) into the National Statistical Office (NSO).
