NITI Aayog: Poverty Elimination Task Force Submits Report

The task force created for the elimination of poverty under NITI Aayog has submitted its report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally.

The task force was formed under the chairmanship of Arvind Panagariya on March 16, 2015, although the decision was taken during the meeting on February 8, 2015, when it was chaired by Modi.

According to the methodology of Suresh D Tendulkar’s committee, who is a former chairman of NITI Aayog, only 22% of the people in the country can be deemed “poor” because those whose daily consumption of goods and services exceed Rs. 27.20 in villages, and Rs. 33.33 in cities are not poor.
