December 21, 2018
This Wednesday, India’s think tank NITI Aayog unveiled the “Strategy for New India @75” document. In this, it has recommended that the government’s spending on healthcare should be at least 2.5% of its GDP as aimed under the National Health Policy 2017. It said that taxes should be increased on products like tobacco and alcohol and that yoga must be made an important part of the curriculum at schools to encourage a healthier lifestyle.
The advisory body said that the government should use multiple channels including schools, colleges, social media, fairs, etc. to spread awareness about preventive health care.
