Niti Aayog Recommends Digital Infrastructure for Ayushman Bharat Scheme

India’s thinktank Niti Aayog has proposed an Aadhaar-based digital infrastructure called the National Health Stack (NHS) to give a boost to the Ayushman Bharat Scheme that aims to provide insurance to over 10 crores families.

NHS is envisioned as a national digital infrastructure which will be accessible to the central government as well as public and private healthcare centres on the state-level. The records of the beneficiaries will be kept under this system and uploaded by doctors, hospitals, insurers, and the beneficiaries themselves.

Niti Aayog has released a draft paper that suggests that existing infrastructure including e-KYC, Aadhaar, Digital Locker etc. be used for the foundation of the National Healthcare Scheme.
