No Adverse Impact on Exports by GST: Commerce Secretary

The implementation of Goods and Services Tax regime won’t have a negative impact on the exports, Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia said in a press conference yesterday. She stated that since exports will be taxed at a zero rate, the exporters needn’t worry.

It’s just a matter of time when the mid-term review of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) will be released which will have some changes concerning GST and exports. Under the GST regime, exporters will have to pay taxes, but they can seek refunds of the same through input tax credits.
