NPAs Under Agriculture Loans Surge to ₹9,000 cr

The stressed farm loans in Punjab have touched ₹9,000 crores, bankers said. This is mainly because of the debt waiver of up to ₹2 lakhs which has encouraged the farmers to stop the repayment altogether.
As per the debt waiver scheme, marginal and small farmers who have obtained crop loans from cooperative banks, commercial banks, and public sector banks will be provided relief up to ₹2 lakh.
