NPCI to Launch RuPay Credit Cards Soon

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is going to roll out its own line of credit cards called the RuPay credit cards, for which it has already got several banks on board. Currently, a pilot program is underway with help from 5 banks and so far about 7,200 transactions have taken place already.

NPCI Managing Director and CEO A P Hota said that Union Bank, Andhra Bank, IDBI Bank, Central bank of India, and Punjab National Bank are working on the project for now. In the near future, three more banks will also be roped in. If all goes well, the public will finally get to use the RuPay credit cards on a national scale.
